Behind the Tune: Meaning & Story

The Stinky and Dirty Show theme song is a high-energy anthem that perfectly captures the “can-do” spirit of the series. Since its debut on January 15, 2015, the song has become one of the most beloved modern tv theme songs for toddlers, introducing young viewers to the world of Go City and its two most hardworking residents.

The lyrics highlight the unique partnership between Stinky (the garbage truck) and Dirty (the backhoe loader). The catchy hook “They try, try, try and never give up” serves as the show’s core philosophy, encouraging children to use creative problem-solving and persistence when facing obstacles. Across 39 episodes, this theme has remained a staple for fans of the Amazon Original series.

Based on the popular “I Stink!” and “I’m Dirty!” book series, the show uses this tune to celebrate the messy, fun, and collaborative nature of construction and sanitation work, proving that being “Stinky and Dirty” is a badge of honor for best friends who get the job done.
