The Story Behind Gumby
Gumby is one of the most famous animated characters from the US. He first appeared way back in the 1950s and was created using “claymation,” which means he was made of actual clay! Gumby is a green, humanoid character who is very flexible—not just in his body, but in his adventures too.
He isn’t alone on his trips, though. He’s almost always seen with his best friend, a clay horse named Pokey. Together, they have the magical ability to jump right into books and explore different worlds. This made the show really special because they could visit any time or place just by walking into a story.
Gumby stayed popular for a long time. While he started on TV in the 50s, he eventually got his own big-screen adventure when Gumby: The Movie was released in 1990. To this day, the theme song reminds fans that as long as you have a kind heart, Gumby will always be a part of your childhood memories.
