Beyond the Galaxy: The Legend of Buzz
Prepare for liftoff! Buzz Lightyear of Star Command took the hero we first met as a toy in Toy Story and gave him his very own intergalactic adventure series. While the movie showed us the toy, this series showed us the “real” Buzz Lightyear—the legendary Space Ranger who patrols the galaxy and keeps the peace against the Evil Emperor Zurg.
The series is famous for its high-octane theme music composed by Adam Berry, which captures the thrill of intergalactic flight. Adding to the classic superhero feel is the narration by Gary Owens, a voice legend who also narrated Space Ghost and Captain Caveman. Together, they create a “musical curtain raiser” that prepares fans for a stellar ride.
Though this specific run was short, the series expanded the world of Star Command, introducing us to Buzz’s team: the brave Mira Nova, the strong Booster, and the quirky robot XR. It remains a fan-favorite piece of space-faring history!
