Batman: The Brave and the Bold is a departure from the “dark and gritty” Batman eras, instead embracing the fun, campy, and vibrant tone of the Silver Age of Comics. Each episode features a “cold open” adventure followed by a main story where Batman teams up with a lesser-known DC hero, such as Blue Beetle, Plastic Man, or Aquaman.
The theme song, composed by Andy Sturmer (the same genius behind the Ben 10 and Teen Titans themes), uses a swinging, big-band jazz style. This sets a high-energy tone that tells the audience right away: this Batman is having an adventure!
The musical team of Carter, McCuistion, and Ritmanis—longtime veterans of the DC Animated Universe—provided the episodic scores, often creating unique motifs for the dozens of guest heroes that appeared throughout the 65-episode run.
