The Dick Tracy Show brought the legendary 2-Way Wrist Radio detective to life in a series of animated shorts. In this version, Tracy himself acts as a commander at police headquarters, giving orders to a team of comedic deputies like Go-Go Gomez and Joe Jitsu. Together, they take down Tracy’s famous “Rogues Gallery” of villains, including Pruneface, Itchy, and Flattop.
Produced by UPA (the same studio behind Mr. Magoo), the show used a bright, limited-animation style typical of the early 60s. The theme song is a classic “Crime Jazz” piece that makes the viewer feel like they are right in the middle of a high-speed police chase across the city.
